To meet your wireless data requirements, GTE Mobilnet offers two different cellular data transmission technologies, each tailored to specific needs.
This breakthrough technology divides information into "packets" of data, transmitting them over idle cellular channels. Because pricing is based on the actual data sent, not the time it takes to send it, billing is highly cost-effective. CDPD, an overlay to the existing cellular network, enables users to transmit packets of data at 19.2 Kbps over the cellular network using a portable computing device and a CDPD modem. CDPD uses the popular Internet Protocol (IP) and provides "connectionless" access to the cellular network, and enhanced security.
This technology let you send and receive data in real time - modem to modem - over regular cellular voice channels. Similar to making a voice call, circuit switched cellular provides a constant connection between originating and terminating points of communication for an entire data transmission. GTE Mobilnet has enhanced the reliability and speed of these transmissions, ensuring better connections between senders and receivers.
