The Verizon Business Mastercard is locked behind an eligibility gate before you ever reach a credit check. Unlike most business credit cards where any business owner can apply, this one requires you to already be a Verizon Business wireless customer, then to meet three additional criteria tied directly to your account setup. Personal Verizon accounts, Verizon Fios-only accounts, and prepaid accounts do not qualify.
The application lives inside the My Business portal at verizon.com/business, not on a standard card application page. Verizon states that applying elsewhere may result in a different offer or no offer at all, so the portal is the only place to start.
If you don't currently have the right portal role, an existing Administrator on your account can adjust your access level before you apply.
Every purchase made on the card earns Verizon Business Dollars, the card's proprietary rewards currency. Verizon Business Dollars are not points or transferable cash back. They accumulate in a single Rewards Wallet tied to your Verizon Business wireless account, and every cardholder on the account contributes to the same pool.
Rewards post to your wallet within one to two billing cycles after the qualifying purchase. There is no cap on how many Verizon Business Dollars you can earn, and the wallet balance carries forward as long as your account remains open.

Earn rates are determined by the merchant category code (MCC) assigned by the merchant's payment processor — not by how you think of the purchase. A supply run at a general retailer may not code as an office supply purchase even if that's exactly what you bought.
The 3% (and 5% in your first billing cycle) earn rate applies to purchases made through Verizon-operated channels only. That means:

Purchasing a Verizon device or accessory at Best Buy, Walmart, or any non-exclusive third-party retailer earns 1% regardless of the brand on the box.
Verizon Business Dollars redeem at face value: One Verizon Business Dollar equals one dollar toward an eligible Verizon purchase. You apply them at the time of purchase through one of three Verizon-operated channels: a Verizon-owned store, online at Verizon.com/business, or over the phone with a Verizon representative. Third-party authorized retailers do not accept redemptions, even if they sell Verizon products.
Only Administrators and other designated Verizon Wireless account contacts can access the Rewards Wallet and initiate redemptions, not every cardholder, regardless of how much they contributed to the balance.

Two of the most common recurring costs on business credit cards are already off the table. The Verizon Business Mastercard charges no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees.
If you carry a balance at a 26.99% variable APR, carrying even a modest balance will generate interest charges that outpace whatever Verizon Business Dollars you earned on that same spend. This card is built for businesses that pay in full monthly, not as a financing tool.
This card has one job: Turning a Verizon Business wireless bill into rewards. If Verizon already owns a meaningful slice of your monthly expenses, the locked ecosystem costs you nothing because you were spending there anyway. Businesses seeking flexible redemption options may find the Verizon-focused rewards structure limiting.
But there’s another thing to consider: Other cards offer similar rewards on similar services and give you cold hard cash in return, instead of limiting redemptions to Verizon-related purchases.
The $50 intro bonus triggers after one purchase with no minimum spend. Beyond that, the ongoing math is straightforward:

Because there is no annual fee to offset, every Verizon Business Dollar earned is the rewards may provide incremental value for businesses already spending heavily with Verizon. If your monthly Verizon bill runs $200 or more and Verizon represents a real share of your monthly business spend, the Verizon-specific redemption structure could make sense. If you spend heavily at Verizon and elsewhere, you could build a credit card toolkit with the Verizon Card as one of a selection of cards.
If your Verizon bill is closer to $50 and most of your spending happens outside Verizon, gas, and office supplies, a flat-rate cash-back card earning 1.5% to 2% on everything will put more money back over a year.
The Verizon Business Mastercard is not the only no-annual-fee business card competing for your wallet — and depending on where your business actually spends, it may not be the one that earns the most.

If your Verizon bill is your largest single recurring business expense, the Verizon Business Mastercard's 3% locked reward is competitive with the U.S. Bank Triple Cash's 3% cash back on cellphone service, but the Triple Cash gives you that same rate on gas, restaurants, and office supplies too, and the rewards aren't locked. The Verizon card may be a better fit only if you're certain you'll redeem toward Verizon spend. If you'd rather have the cash, the Triple Cash puts the same earn rate in your pocket with no strings attached.
The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card is likely best when your spend is spread across categories that don't hit any card's bonus tiers: Earn 2% cash back on all eligible purchases on the first $50,000 of purchases each calendar year, 1% thereafter. That beats 1% everywhere else. It also has set-it-and-forget-it rewards that offer you true freedom from any bonus category tracking or redemption restrictions.
