Bottom line: This is a good card for business owners just starting to build their business credit. Because American Express qualifications are similar across all cards, consider other cards with better rewards.
The Business Green Rewards Card from American Express is one of the company’s flagship rewards cards, and today, business owners can still choose to go green as they peruse the many cards that fill the American Express portfolio.
However, when compared to some of the other American Express business cards on the market, the Business Green Rewards Card from American Express may not be the best choice. This is particularly true for business owners who frequently travel or who want a more aggressive rewards program.
This is particularly true for frequent travelers who can still take advantage of many of the basic American Express benefits while earning far more rewards with The Business Platinum Card® from American Express card or one of American Express Delta business cards.
The Business Green Rewards Card from American Express rewards program can appear to be lackluster when compared to other American Express Business cards. Earn one Membership Rewards® point for each dollar you spend on eligible purchases.
That’s not to suggest that there aren’t any benefits to this Business Green Rewards Card from American Express. This card does offer basic American Express business perks, like car rental insurance, roadside assistance, and account management benefits like Spend Manager and easy QuickBooks integrations
Unfortunately, despite the limited rewards and benefits, the card does carry a $95 annual fee and still typically requires applicants to have good/excellent credit.
If you anticipate carrying a balance for more than thirty days, you may want to consider The Plum Card® from American Express, which provides 60-day 0% financing. Another card worth considering is the The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card, which offers 0% on purchases for 12 months from date of account opening
Business Green Rewards Card from American Express vs American Express® Business Gold Card -- Which is better?
As the review suggests, the Business Green Rewards Card from American Express card is lacking when it comes to membership rewards, and business owners that really want to maximize their rewards options may want to consider the American Express® Business Gold Card.
The American Express® Business Gold Card gives cardholders a great opportunity to earn. Earn 4X Membership Rewards® points on the top two eligible categories where your business spends the most each month from 6 eligible categories.
However, the Gold perks come at a price, specifically a $375 annual fee, which may not be worth it to cardholders who don’t plan to take advantage of the rewards program. If that’s the case, the $95 annual fee after the first year may make it more attractive.
