Nav's Verdict

Bottom Line Frequent American Airline travelers benefit from building your business credit while enjoying travel-centric perks. The AAdvantage offers numerous ways to earn bonus miles as well as perks when traveling on American Airlines.

Travel rewards can be great, but sometimes those rewards don’t quite match your travel habits. Fortunately, Delta loyalist can leverage a rewards program made specifically with them in mind. With the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card, the first in a series of three business Delta rewards cards from American Express, you can earn miles with every purchase and take advantage of airline perks like priority boarding and in-flight savings.

If, however, your travel expenses extend outside of the Delta brand, you may want to consider The Business Platinum Card® from American Express card, which offers more extensive travel benefits. Similarly, if your spending habits aren’t rooted in travel, then you may want to consider the American Express® Business Gold Card, which offers customizable business rewards.

Card Review Details

If you’re a SkyMiles Loyalty Program member and you want to increase the number of miles you can earn and use as you travel with Delta, then the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card can be a good place to start.

This card offers a competitive Welcome Offer: Earn 55,000 Bonus Miles after spending $4,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Card Membership. Plus, get rewards: Earn 2 Miles on every dollar spent on eligible purchases made directly with Delta and on every eligible dollar spent at restaurants. Earn 1 Mile on every eligible dollar spent on other purchases.

Aside from earning miles, with the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card, you can also receive additional airline perks like priority boarding, in-flight savings, bag-check waivers, and baggage insurance.

Of course, one of the obvious downfalls to this card is that the rewards are very specific and therefore it doesn’t offer as much flexibility as some of the other American Express business cards currently on the market.

As such, while it may be a good card to add to your collection if you fly Delta frequently or if you’re just looking to supplement your existing rewards cards, it’s not a great card for everyday use.

If you are looking for an everyday-use rewards business credit card, you may want to a card like the The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express, which offers rewards, a 0% on purchases for 12 months from date of account opening, and potentially a lower APR, if qualified.

Is This the Best Amex Delta Business Credit Card?

The Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card offers the same basic rewards benefit as the other Amex Delta cards. And with a $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $150 annual fee, this card certainly is attractive for business owners who may fly Delta just enough to merit a rewards program but not enough to be considered a true loyalist.

However, if you are a frequent flyer with a penchant for Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) you may find more value in the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card or Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card.

However, the additional perks do come with a cost, as the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card cards carry significantly higher annual fees — $350 and $650, respectively.

Can I Still Earn the Delta Gold Business Welcome Offer?

Yes. New customers using the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card can take advantage of the Welcome Offer: Earn 55,000 Bonus Miles after spending $4,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Card Membership..
